It gets better. During the Battle of the Fang. Her father dies, and her position is nearly overrun. He comes to her aid, and stands against the thousand sons to protect her.
Later, right before Aldr (the dreadnought) is going to be put into hibernation, she asks him about the wulfen, and he tells her to knock it off.
‘You are right,’ she said. ‘I have offended you again. I will leave.’
At that, Aldr made to move off, to follow his brothers into the tunnels.
His powerful leg-motors whined as he stepped across the portal. Freija fell back, at last respecting the sanctity of the occasion.
"You never offended me" he said, his voice thick, before stalking off
back into the dark.
Sucks he found a human and when he wakes up next she'll be long dead
