- The Realm of Ghur, also known as the Realm of Beasts
- monster hunting
- main deity: The Greenskin God Gorkamorka
"A realm of untamed savagery where only the strongest can hope to survive"
Bjarl is a frozen continent in the south of the Ghurish Heartlands. The continent is moving aggressively northwards, connecting to Andtor via the glacial flow known as the Bjarl Throat and approaching Gallet across the Splitneck Sea.
"You want me to espound upon what it means to be an Astral Templar, do you? We are hunters born, vanquishers of monsters that would have others loosening their bowels. Unlike our more saintly kith, we revel in every crunch and war of triumph. But what better test is there for a warrior's heart than battle! We are never more alive than when moments from death, dodging beneath the clumsy swipe of a troggoth's club or driving a lance through the heart of a drake. Sigmar did not forge us to indulge in hand-wringing and introspection; he did so because we are children of Ghur, raised in a land that eats the weak and chokes upon the strong." ~ Fraja Thundermane.
"The Astral Templars are recruited from the most barbaric and warlike of the mortal tribes, skillful hunters with feral upbringings" - https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/wiki/Astral_Templars
Culture
The Astral Templars wear thick pelts and feral tattoos. Heads of monsters slain by them are preserved and displayed on the walls of their Stormkeeps.
Pastimes
The Astral Templars regular compete in the chariot races that the Stormhosts host in the Gladitorium. During these races they let their full bellicosity out but are guaranteed to invite any who defeat their riders to their mead halls after matches.
- Rally-Finland! There is some Charioteer character named "Rarg Raaka of the Red Wheels," raaka = raw in finnish
War Names
Among the Astral Templars it is considered taboo for a Templar to claim their own deed-name. Instead it must be granted by their fellows.
Religion
The Astral Templars continue to honour the same totemic godbeasts they did as mortals carrying our rites around firepits. However among them, the most prominent is Ursricht, the White Bear. Who is thought to be the spirit of Andtor's glaciers.
Ceremonies dedicated to these godbeasts are held in the Stormkeeps of the Astral Templars as well as hidden caverns, mountain valleys, and forest glades.
"I claim the city of Jercho for Sigmar. The fewer of its people I have to kill, the greater will be his prize." ~Hamilcar
"He likes to talk. It is his weakness and his strength. There is more of the mortal he was, in Zephacleas, than in some of us. It is not hesitation you see, but consideration. Zephacleas is many things, but he is not a fool. Not all enemies are the same. In the Jade Kingdoms, he fought like a bear, loud and brash, to give heart to his chamber. In the Crawling City, he was a hunter, harrying his prey to exhaustion and death. Here, he fights like a chieftain, seeking to win not simply a battle, but a war." ~Lord-Relictor Seker to Lord-Celestant Greel.
